Chalkboard Hope

There are so many things I love about this picture. This past Sunday was my last day as the Sunday coordinator at our church. I walked in the coordinator office to start the day, and this precious gift was waiting for me from a sweet friend.  I was determined to choke back the tears and get ready for the many volunteers and kiddos who were about to come through the doors. Of course, the floodgates opened the moment I got back into my car several hours later to head home! I’m talking ugly crying here, folks.

So, back to what I was saying…Here’s what I love about this picture. 1) The teal vintage pitcher 2) The vintage yarn {swoon} 3) The adorable card with the plantable hearts. Yep, I just said plantable hearts. While I love everything about this gift, the hearts have to be my favorite! You see, there are seeds made into the paper. How stinkin’ cute is that?! Now, when the seeds to start to sprout and bloom into beautiful flowers, I’ll think about my sweet friend, Angela. 🙂

Speaking of Angela, you need to check out her etsy shop, Chalkboard Hope, where you can find these sweet hearts along with several other handmade items.

Handmade Blessings

So this is my first link up since starting my new blog! Yay! Among the things I love are handmade items. If you don’t love handmade, then I’m not sure we can be friends…seriously. 😉 A sweet gift from a friend sparked the idea for this post, and I just had to share some of my favorite handmade gifts. Ok, so two of them are from my son!

Here’s a Mother’s Day gift from last year…totally made me tear up!

And here’s the one from this year. Super cute!

This next handmade gift takes a little explaining…On April 2nd of last year, we found out we were expecting our second baby. On April 9th, we lost that baby. I was completely heartbroken, and I never knew that I would grieve so hard for a little life that I had carried for a short amount of time. I know that the Lord knows best and understands beyond what we can comprehend here on this earth. I would lie in bed some nights asking God to hold me and thinking about my little one in His arms. Every time I closed my eyes, I could see this beautiful little girl smiling back at me. I knew in my heart, that we had lost a baby girl. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that my husband and I gave her the name Sara Lillian, and I shared that with a few close friends. One of those dear, sweet friends over at Life, Crafts & Whatever was there, and she made one of the most precious handmade gifts I’ve ever received….

Of course I’ll always think of my precious girl, but it’s so sweet to have this little reminder sitting on our desk with family photos. I tear up every time I see it. So, for those of you who give handmade gifts…keep on giving! They’re more of a blessing than you know!

Lanterns with candles and owls with white faces, discounted frames and clear tiered vases, finding good deals and the joy that they bring….these are a few of my favorite things! Great, now that song’s stuck in my head! After moving into our new home back in November, we knew that we only wanted to purchase things that we love. My husband and I made a mistake on decorating way back when we purchased our first home in 2006. We filled our house with ‘stuff’. Yuck…We moved to Texas in 2008, and we quickly realized how much stuff we actually had. Our only option at the time (without going broke) was to rent a little two bedroom townhome/garden home. Due to our limited space, most of our stuff ended up in boxes in the garage. What a blessing it was to be without all of those things. During the following the months, we began purging those boxes and getting rid of things. We were able to see just exactly what we could live without. It is now our goal in our new home to only purchase things we really like/love. And I have to say…I love a good deal! I rarely ever pay full price for anything. One of the best places I have found is TJ Maxx. So here are some of my best deals as of late that didn’t break the bank! By the way, I wasn’t compensated in any way for this review. If I had been compensated in any way, I would have spent it on more deals at TJ Maxx…probably. 🙂 Enjoy!
